MANAGEMENT
How the Pre-school is run
The day-to-day running and organisation of the Pre-school
is the responsibility of
the Pre-school leader and
her team of staff. When new children join,
we endeavour to
settle them in by welcoming them into our 'homely',
friendly and relaxed environment. A range
of activities is available
on rotation and daily crafts/activities are
organised
to fit in with the learning goal and theme of the
week. Children
are divided into small groups for some particular
activities and games. We sing grace before
snack time, followed by
quiet reading. Included in the session is time
for physical play in the adjoining hall or outside
if weather permits.
The morning usually finishes with a story and/or
songs.
How the Pre-school is managed
Datchworth Pre-school is a registered charity managed
by a committee of parents. The committee meet
at regular intervals
throughout the year to decide on policy, to
organise maintenance of equipment and other important matters
arising. The committee
also publishes periodic newsletters to communicate
its activities and requests of support from
Pre-school
families.
We also have a fundraising team who organise
events to generate extra income. The Pre-school relies
on
this fundraising
for essential extras; therefore parents, families
and friends are encouraged to lend their support
by playing a part
in these activities. We are also delighted
to welcome more parents onto the committee, however small
they
feel their commitment can be. The committee
is open to any new ideas being put forward in support of
their
child's
Pre-school.
Our Staff
We have a high staff:child ratio. Staff are police
checked and are fully trained in First Aid. They
hold up-to-date
qualifications and we have a continuing programme
of staff development. Details of current staff
and their qualifications
are held at the Pre-school.
